Amber’s hands went still when a delivery driver arrived with a hundred yellow roses while her husband Daniel was supposedly away on a business trip. After eighteen years together, she knew Daniel’s habits well—he preferred white roses and was never the type to make dramatic romantic gestures. The enormous arrangement came without a message, only her name and the precise number of flowers.
Then she noticed something strange.
Three roses hidden near the center of the bouquet had tiny red markings on their petals.
A memory from her late father’s old police stories suddenly returned. With her heart racing, Amber locked every door in the house and called for help.
Detective Kellan, one of her father’s former colleagues, recognized the significance of the flowers immediately.
