The tragic death of 10-year-old Sara Sharif shocked many people and led to widespread anger toward her father, Urfan Sharif, who admitted responsibility after a prolonged period of harm. Sara was found at her home in Woking with numerous injuries, along with a handwritten note from her father.
After the incident, Urfan, his wife Beinash Batool, and Sara’s uncle traveled to Pakistan but were later taken into custody. In December 2024, Urfan was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 40 years, while Batool received 33 years and Malik 16 years.
Soon after being placed in HMP Belmarsh, a high-security prison, Urfan became a target due to the nature of his offense. On New Year’s Day, two inmates attacked him using a sharp object, leaving injuries to his face and neck. He survived but was left with lasting scars.
According to prison sources, the incident was seen by some inmates as unavoidable, with a belief among them that justice had been carried out. One of the alleged attackers, Steve Sansom, is serving a life sentence for multiple serious crimes.
