A peaceful neighborhood in Shreveport, Louisiana has been shaken by a devastating tragedy that claimed the lives of eight children and left others injured. On April 19, 2026, police responded to reports of a shooting at a home. Investigators say ten people were shot in total—eight children were killed, and two women were injured. The suspect was identified as the children’s father, Shamar Elkins. Seven of the children were found inside the house, while another was discovered on the roof.
Among the injured were his wife, Shaneiqua Elkins, who survived a gunshot wound, and another woman believed to be connected to him.
