Donald Trump once praised his son Barron Trump, suggesting that a seemingly simple moment showed “remarkable technological talent.” However, many found the example confusing, as it appeared to describe an ordinary action.
Barron, 19, whom Trump shares with Melania Trump, is currently studying at the Stern School of Business at New York University. In a 2025 interview with Laura Ingraham on Fox News, Trump spoke positively about all of his children, calling them intelligent, hardworking, and proud of both their country and their father.
When asked what sets Barron apart, Trump highlighted his technology skills, describing them as “incredible.” He recalled closing Barron’s laptop, only to return shortly after and find it turned back on. When he questioned him, Barron responded, “None of your business, Dad.” Trump interpreted this as a sign of his son’s technical ability.
Online reactions were mixed. Many people joked that the situation sounded like something simple—such as reopening a laptop or using sleep mode—suggesting Trump may have misunderstood the situation. Others speculated there could have been more to it, like bypassing a password or restriction, which would be more noteworthy.
Trump later added that he feels lucky as a parent, describing his children as respectful and committed individuals who share a strong family bond.
