The tiny white flowers my stylist had spent two hours weaving into my waist-length braid were now scattered across the floor.<\/p>\n

I usually laughed off her remarks because I wanted to avoid conflict. I even ignored her complaints about our restaurant reception and her jokes about my \u201crustic\u201d wedding style.<\/p>\n

The music started again. My father made me laugh by insisting I have some dessert, and eventually Nick and I returned to the dance floor.<\/p>\n

Two days later, I went to a salon and asked the stylist to turn the damage into a sleek bob rather than trying to save what Martha had destroyed.<\/p>\n

As the final pieces of hair fell to the floor, Nick watched and told me, \u201cYou look like yourself again.\u201d<\/p>\n

I smiled at my reflection.<\/p>\n

He was almost right.<\/p>\n
