I went on a date with a man I had met online. We had been talking for several weeks, and he seemed funny, respectful, and easy to talk to. So when he suggested meeting at a movie theater, I agreed.<\/p>\n

Once we arrived, I offered to get the snacks while he went to buy the drinks.<\/p>\n

When we returned to our seats, I took a sip of my drink and noticed that something about the taste seemed unusual. I didn’t think much of it at first. But only a few minutes later, I started feeling dizzy. My vision became blurry, and before I knew what was happening, I collapsed near the theater exit.<\/p>\n

When I opened my eyes, several cinema employees were around me, along with a stranger who had witnessed me fall.<\/p>\n

They helped me sit up, checked on me, and made sure I was safe. What immediately caught my attention was the man I had come with. He looked extremely nervous and was keeping his distance.<\/p>\n

One of the employees told me they had already contacted medical assistance and checked the security footage to determine what had happened.<\/p>\n

I was frightened and confused, but incredibly thankful that someone had noticed me and reacted so quickly.<\/p>\n

Later that night, after I was back home recovering, I couldn’t stop thinking about how differently things might have turned out if no one had been nearby.<\/p>\n

That experience taught me never to take personal safety for granted.<\/p>\n

No matter how trustworthy or friendly someone may seem online, it’s important to stay cautious. Meet new people in public places, let someone you trust know where you’re going, and never leave your drink unattended.<\/p>\n

Years later, I still tell this story\u2014not to frighten people, but to remind them to listen to their instincts.<\/p>\n

If something feels wrong, don’t ignore that feeling.<\/p>\n

There are still good people in the world. The stranger who helped me and the theater employees who stayed with me proved that.<\/p>\n

But protecting ourselves is also our responsibility.<\/p>\n

That frightening experience changed more than the way I approach dating.
