My husband has spent the past decade raising my 14-year-old daughter as if she were his own.<\/p>\n

On the morning of his 40th birthday, when we were supposed to attend a big celebration at his parents\u2019 house, everything changed.<\/p>\n

I heard voices coming from my daughter\u2019s room and went to check. There, I found my husband quietly urging her to skip the party so I wouldn\u2019t notice.<\/p>\n

He told her to pretend she didn\u2019t want to go and even offered to take her shopping as a reward.<\/p>\n

She had been looking forward to the party for weeks, but hesitantly agreed.<\/p>\n

I know exactly why he did it\u2014and it makes me furious. His mother can\u2019t stand my daughter because she thinks her son has \u201cwasted\u201d his time and money raising a child who isn\u2019t biologically his.<\/p>\n
