So, my wife managed to crash the car again today. By the time the police arrived, she was already worked up, pacing beside the dented bumper. \u201cThat guy was completely reckless!\u201d she snapped, pointing angrily.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was on his phone\u2014can you believe that? And on top of it all, he was just sitting there, casually drinking a beer like nothing even happened!\u201d<\/p>\n

I looked over, and sure enough, there was a man slumped in the driver\u2019s seat, phone in his lap, calmly sipping from a can like he was relaxing on a sunny afternoon.<\/p>\n

The officer, holding his notebook, took a slow breath, clearly trying not to laugh. Then he looked straight at my wife and said, \u201cMa\u2019am\u2026 you hit a parked car.\u201d<\/p>\n

The silence that followed was unbearable.<\/p>\n

My wife stood frozen, her jaw dropping, while I did my best not to laugh. The officer continued, barely holding it together, \u201cAnd the man you\u2019re upset about?\u201d<\/p>\n

He paused, then added, \u201cThat\u2019s actually a cardboard cutout we use for training. He wasn\u2019t on his phone\u2014and he definitely wasn\u2019t drinking.\u201d<\/p>\n

My wife blinked, her face turning bright red.<\/p>\n

I had to bite my tongue to keep from laughing as she quietly said, \u201cWell\u2026 he looked reckless.\u201d The officer finally cracked a small smile. \u201cDon\u2019t worry, ma\u2019am. It happens more often than you\u2019d think.\u201d<\/p>\n
